Day 2 - Today is the final day of the 2-Day "Female in Leadership and Management Programme", for the ILembe District being hosted under the theme; "Strengthening Foundations for Learning for a resilient future fit for the education system".
Dr Mawi Mhlongo, Deputy Chief Education Specialist, Teacher Development, uMlazi District and Xoli Dube, Deputy Chief Education Specialist, Teacher Development, ILembe District welcomed females in various leadership positions back to another informative day set to inspire all attendees.
Several officials gave feedback on what inspired them most on the first day session. Ladies feedback and comments; "We are a combo and have many roles to play. Forums are necessary to guide women. You must be self formed and stop putting other people first. Confidence is very important, when you leave a room, people must remember who you are and what you have done. You must walk tall with a lot of confidence".
Ms Zamile Gwala, Psychological Counsellor, encouraged women to contribute to building each other and improving skills. Women must celebrate their strength and resilience and assist in shaping the future of the country as they are community builders. "Leaders are born, when you set standards you can manage all situations".
Mrs Sindi Zakuza-Njakazi, Chief Director: Curriculum Management, GET addressed all present and emphasized that ladies in managing positions must lead by example, set standards and make the world talk.
As woman you triple your effort to show that you are worth getting a managerial post. "Let's treat everyone equally". Mrs Zakuza-Njakazi stated that accountability sessions are very important to manage effectively. Embrace responsibility of leadership. Let's not hold grudges. Set your standards and monitor if the standards are being maintained.
Ms Zamele Mlambo from Department of Basic Education, Deputy Chief Education Specialist, Education Management and Governance Development emphasized on qualities of an assertive manager, you must value yourself, accept your mistakes, control yourself, make eye contact with others and be proud of yourself and your team. The person who raises a child determines the character of that child and so influences the type of society that the next generation will create. You should never manage a school with a "never mind" attitude.
Ms Mlambo quoted the five deadly terms used by a woman, "Fine, Nothing, Go ahead, Whatever and That's OK and bonus word WOW." You cannot be a manager if you can't implement consequence management. Don't expect people to have positive attitude if you are negative.
Always believe in yourself!
