    World Teacher's Day:


    The MEC for Education, the Honourable, Mr Kwazi Mshengu concurrently thank the teachers for their loyalty and dedication to duty and simultaneously instilled discipline at Folweni High School. The MEC appealed to the community, SGB and the CPF to work together in fighting Gangsterism in school and addressed the issue of safety of our Teachers and Learners on school property.

    KZN Vehicles:


    The MEC for Education, the Honourable, Mr Kwazi Mshengu officially cut the ribbon during an unveiling ceremony of 110 new state vehicles that will be delivered to the 12 District Offices to enhance service delivery at school level.

    The MEC for Education, the Honourable, Mr Kwazi Mshengu together with the Deputy Minister of Basic Education, Dr Regina Mhaule officially handed over 15 buses and teaching devices to special schools at a function held at the Scholar Amoris School in Umzinto in the Ugu District.

    Delivery of PPE

    Delivery of PPE – The KZNDOE procured Personal Protective Equipment, (PPE), which are being delivered to the schools and circuit offices

    Deep clearing is ongoing, at Open Air Special School in the Umlazi District, KwaDukuza and Phambela Circuits principals Orientation Workshop on COVID-19 in the ILembe District. Iwangu Primary School in eNkandla, Inkosi uSishakuza Primary School in eNkandla, Sibahlengemvelo Primary School in eNkandla, Mphathesitha Secondary School in eNkandla, Chwezi Primary School in eNkandla, Pongolo Circuit PPEs delivered, Dingukwazi High School in Pongolo, Impunga High School in Harry Gwala District and Tholinhlanhla Primary School in uMzinyathi District.

    Inspection of Water Tanks and Hand-Washing Stations

    The KZN MEC for Education, the Honourable, Mr Kwazi Mshengu inspected water tanks & hand-washing stations in the King Cetshwayo District.
    In the face of the Covid-19 pandemic, the Department of Education in KwaZulu-Natal is working around the clock in preparation of the education system's proposed phased schools reopening. The date for the reopening of schools is yet to be announced by the Minister of Basic Education, Mrs Angie Motshekga. KZN Education MEC Mr Kwazi Mshengu will visit various schools in the King Cetswayo district where he will inspect water tanks & hand-washing stations. All these schools are located in Ngwelezane Township.

    MEC Launches Covid-19 Screening

    MEC Launches Covid-19 Screening - The KZN MEC for Education, the Honourable, Mr Kwazi Mshengu together with other MECs and Premier Mr Sihle Zikalala were at Jika Joe Informal Settlements in Umgungundlovu Districts to launch the Covid-19 Community Screening

    MEC Monitors Strict Lockdown Measures

    The KZN MEC for Education, the Honourable, Mr Kwazi Mshengu participated in a Roadblock that was conducted by RTI, SAPS and Metro Police at the Marrianhill Toll Plaza.
    Thereafter, MEC Mshengu Monitored SASSA Pay Points and Monitored Law Enforcement operations in Ethekwini Metro
    The MEC for Education, Kwazi Mshengu, together with Ethekwini Municipality Speaker, Cllr Weziwe Thusi, Cllr Thanduxolo Sabela and Officials from various Departments and Ethekwini Municipality monitored the SASSA Grant Payments Points in Ethekwini.

    School State-of-Readiness

    The KZN MEC for Education, the Honourable, Mr Kwazi Mshengu together with KZN Premier, the Honourable, Mr Sihle Zikalala addressed a Media Briefing on the State-of- Readiness on the reopening of schools, following the National Lockdown due to the Covid-19 Corona Virus pandemic.
    The KZN MEC for Education, the Honourable, Mr Kwazi Mshengu after a through consultative meeting with the education sector, assured parents, learners and educators that the Department has procured enough PPE, Personal Protective Equipment that will last for the next 6 months and that all protocols will be adhered to in terms of the National Disaster Management Act regulations under Level 3 Lockdown.
