Mr Nkosinathi Ngcobo

The KwaZulu-Natal Department of Education, Head of Department (HoD), Mr Nkosinathi Ngcobo started his teaching career at Mqhawe High School in Inanda, his birth place, under the then Ndwedwe Circuit. 

He then took up a lecturing post at the Ntuzuma College of Education after finishing his Master’s Degree at the State University of New York.

At the Ntuzuma College of Education, the HoD started as a lecturer and later promoted as a senior lecturer and exited the college already occupying the position of Departmental Head.

He then joined the Department of Education in 2001 where he was appointed as a Deputy Director: Labour Relations. In 2004, Mr Ngcobo was appointed as a Director: Labour Relations in the same Department.

In 2005, he was appointed as a Chief Director: Human Resources Management (HRM). He is the first Chief Director to be appointed in this position by the then new KZN Administration, where he was responsible for driving transformation in relation to appointments of staff and managers at all levels.

The HoD acted as DDG : Corporate Management at various intermittent periods from 2014 to 2019.

Mr Nkosinathi Ngcobo, assumed his position as the new Head of Department: KZN Education, with effect from 01 March 2022.
