State of readiness for 2003
The KwaZulu-Natal Department of Education is busy with
preparations to ensure that all systems are in place when schools
reopen in the new year. The Department is calling upon principals to
ensure that all systems are in place when schools reopen in the new
year. The Department is calling upon principals to ensure that time
tables are ready and the post provisioning norms applied before
learners return to school. Principals are called upon to speed up
the registration process at schools where registration was not
finalised in September/October 2002.
School management teams are encouraged to start earlier to
prepare for learning and teaching which should begin on the first
day that learners report to school.
The Procurement Component reported that 65% of the textbooks have
been received with 95% of deliveries expected when schools reopen.
Arrangements have been made with stationery suppliers to remain
open over the festive season to ensure that bulk orders are
delivered before schools reopen or immediately thereafter. Regions
have been requested to place orders for furniture. The Department is
doing everything possible to ensure that learner support material is
delivered to schools timeously.
