National Science Olympiad

Thekweni College Campus [ex-Springfield College of Education] - Durban
Saturday, 22 November 2003 at 12H00

The KZN Department of Education together with KwaZulu-Natal Association of Science and Technology Educators [KASTE] will be hosting the National Science Olympiad Awards Ceremony on Saturday, 23 November 2002 at the former Springfield College of Education [Tekweni College], D’aintree Ave, Asherville at 12H00.

Guest Speaker at the Olympiad will be the Minister of Education and Culture, Minister Narend Singh. The Science Olympiad is to honour and motivate outstanding learners, educators and schools though out the country. Over 15 000 learners participate annually. Entries were also received from schools in the other provinces.

These Olympiads for General Science and Biology and Physical Science are recognised and acknowledged at National level by the Department of Arts, Culture, Technology and Science and the Foundation for Education Science and Technology.

All questions set were in line with Outcomes Based Education [OBE] and Curriculum 2005. The analysis of results for 2003 have just been finalised and the organiser are impressed with the effort made by the learners in the competition.
