Official Launch of KZNDEC Master Strategic Plan [MSP]
The KwaZulu-Natal Department of Education will
officially launch its Master Strategic Plan tomorrow, Thursday, 27
March 2003 at 10H00 at DOKKIES in the Hall, Corner of Nicolson Road
and Queen Mary Avenue in Umbilo, Durban.
The Master Strategic Plan has a clear strategic focus and
direction enunciated in a vision and mission statement, with eight
goals and programmes charting the way forward through to year 2005.
The MSP is linked with the current education Budget and the
three-year medium-term expenditure framework, designed to propel the
Department towards the desired future state.
This document will significantly clarify the Department’s
strategic goals and associated objectives and will also give
direction to a new and dynamic situation in the Province. Enshrined
in the strategy are the Departmental values of professionalism,
caring, empathy, honest, integrity and fairness. It is expected that
all people in education, as a collective unit, will re-assess their
thinking about education and ensure that it allows for preparing and
developing education for citizenship and nationhood and thereby
contribute to the development of the country.
The strategic goals and objectives developed by the KZN Department of Education
are consistent with the National
and Provincial priorities while focusing on the core services of the
Department. To monitor the progress towards the achievement of these
strategic goals, measurable objectives and performance indicators
are being used.
The plan takes into account the fact that the province is diverse
- not only in terms of its population groups – but also in respect
of its geographical nature with the extremely rural and extremely
urban communities that the Department services. The strategic plan
re-inforces the concept of taking the service to the people.
Your presence at this important launch of the KZNDEC’s MSP will
be greatly appreciated.
