Durban Teachers Centre has an IT Support Component. It is designed to provide IT support services to the Centre (i.e. Durban Teachers Centre) and to the schools in the Umlazi district, ex Durban Central circuit.

The following are the services that the IT Specialist will/can do:

  • Troubleshoot and solve all hardware and software issues
  • Provide advice, as per request, for possible upgrades for hardware and software of computer equipment.
  • Symantec Endpoint Protection is the only software that can be provided by the IT Technician.
  • All other hardware and software expenses will be borne by the school.

There is no charge to the school for the use of the IT Technician from the Centre. Please refer to the Procedures page as to how to contact and get hold of the IT Specialist.

Computer Literacy Course Program

This computer literacy course is a community upliftment program. It is aimed at all individuals wishing to be computer literate, who have never used a computer before and those that have basic knowledge of using a computer but would like to re-enforce their knowledge in computer applications.

The course has duration of one week (full time) i.e. Mondays to Fridays. The times are 08h00 – 15h00.

The course content is as follows:

  • Computer Fundamentals
    o Hardware
    o Software
  • Windows
  • Microsoft Office Word
  • Microsoft Office Excel
  • Microsoft Office PowerPoint
  • Introduction to internet and E-mail
